What if an employee becomes disabled?

If an employee becomes disabled from performing his or her duties and:

  • Has at least 10 years of creditable service (5 years if the disability results from an injury on duty), and
  • Has received benefits for that particular disability for 26 weeks under the Authority's Group Accident and Sickness Insurance or under the Workmen's Compensation Act, the employee would then be eligible for a disability allowance.

There are also other conditions things that would prohibit the Plan from paying a disability allowance.
